Research pertaining to the recent opioid crisis reveals that a majority of young people who have misused prescription opioids obtained the drugs from family members and friends, said Greenburgh Police Lt. Kobie Powell.

" Unused medication can be removed from homes and safely disposed of at our headquarters," he said.

In addition, the New York State Office of the Attorney General launched ClearyourCabinet.com today. The website offers a searchable map which shows hundreds of sites across the state to turn in unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.

The Greenburgh Police Department is at 188 Tarrytown Road, White Plains.
